COVID-19 videos in Spanish for dairy employees
To minimize the chance of spread of COVID-19 in dairy workers, provide access to information in their native language.
Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have received information about the virus, how it is transmitted, and how to prevent spread through regular media, social media and other sources. It is important to keep in mind that non-English speaking workers living in the United States may not have access to the same information in their native language.
A significant percentage of dairy employees in the country speak Spanish as their primary language. In an effort to help maintain the health of Spanish-speaking dairy employees, vital to the success of routine farm operation, Michigan State University Extension has developed a series of videos in Spanish that dairy producers and managers can share with their employees and colleagues to ensure that they are receiving information about COVID-19 from credible sources. These videos are available on the MSU Extension Dairy Team YouTube channel.
It is recommended that producers and managers share the links for the videos via text message with their employees so they can watch the videos on their cellphones while maintaining required social distancing, and have the ability to refer back to them when needed.
In order for producers and managers to be aware of the information presented in each of the videos, the transcripts are available in a PDF document in both English and Spanish.
