FCCP Launches New Section of Landowner Resource Hub, “Land Management”

EmailThe new land management resource page will connect landowners to University and State resources to improve familiarity with forest planning.
The FCCP has launched the second installment of our Landowner Resource Hub, focused on forest management in Michigan. This new page aims to increase fluency and familiarity with land management broadly, while also providing useful, on-the-ground tools for landowners to improve planning and meet their management goals.
The "Land Management" page points to state resources, such as the Department of Natural Resources’ Forest Stewardship Program that connects landowners to certified foresters to create forest management plans. Additionally, we point to cost share programs, such as the one from the Michigan Association of Conservation Districts (MACD) that aims to bolster management on private lands by sharing costs up to $25,000 with landowners conducting approved management actions.
Other helpful resources include Michigan Society of American Foresters (MSAF) guidance on forest management, which emphasizes that landowners' goals remain central in the planning process, and articles from the Penn State Forest Owner Carbon and Climate Education program discuss securing carbon rights in the long term.
This new addition to the Landowner Resource Hub builds off the previously released “Carbon and Climate Science” page, adding on-the-ground management planning and action into the existing base of carbon and climate knowledge.
