Megghan Honke Seidel, of ANR Event Services, will receive the CANR Staff Dean's Award of Distinction on May 11.
The CANR Staff Dean's Award of Distinction recognizes a support staff member for their outstanding long-term service to CANR and their exemplary performance during their employment.
Megghan Honke Seidel serves as an event and systems manager for MSU Extension ANR Event Services. In this role she assists faculty and educators throughout the state to coordinate events of all sizes and scopes. In addition, she is responsible for the functional management of the ANR Events Management System, a fully customizable online registration system used for more than 1,400 events a year reaching more than 70,000 participants for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR), AgBioResearch and MSU Extension.
According to a nominator, “One of Megghan’s strengths is her ability to see connections when others cannot. Her ability to see connections that are not obvious make her a strong event planner and people seek out these skills to help improve their events.”
Additional nominators said, “Megghan seems to always be looking for ways to add more value. I am impressed with Megghan’s commitment to our mission. She will nudge people to do things a harder way if it means we will attract more people, communicate more effectively, and build stronger links with the people we serve.”
“Megghan is a servant leader working tirelessly behind the scenes, wanting others to shine, not herself. Megghan has a passion for her job, works hard and efficiently to get things done on time, and is trustworthy – a combination of attributes many others do not have.”
Seidel earned a bachelor’s degree in agriculture and natural resources communications from MSU, a master’s degree in project management from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and has recently completed a certificate program in change management from Cornell University. For more than 18 years, she has helped people in various roles with MSU Extension and CANR to find the resources they need to create successful programs. It is the variety of work, new challenges and the great people that work at MSU and the related industries that drives Seidel’s passion to create unique opportunities to deliver outreach to the state of Michigan and beyond. Her passion for agriculture and MSU is at the heart of what she does every day.
In addition, Seidel received the 2023 Jack Breslin Distinguished Staff Award on May 15.
At home, Seidel helps her husband on their beef feedlot, cash crop operation and meat market. She also enjoys cooking, baking and spending time outside with her family and their blue heeler dogs.
