Innovation Seminar on Smart Transportation comes to MSU on Nov. 8

The School of Planning Design and Construction and the College of Engineering are hosting the 2018 Innovation Seminar on Smart Transportation at Michigan State University, Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, from 2–5 p.m., in the Facility for Rare Isotope Research Auditorium in East Lansing.
This prestigious event, organized by the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, will feature a guest speaker from Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems.
Fraunhofer is the leading organization for applied research in Europe. The Institute undertakes research of direct utility to private and public enterprise. The aim of this applied research is to use science and technology to create innovative products and applications.
Representatives of other German Companies will also present, including:
- Brose develops and produces components for the top automobile producers in the world. They aim for their products to enhance vehicle comfort, safety and efficiency. Brose invests eight percent of its revenue in research and development.
- Cleverciti Systems brings together all aspects of smart parking management technology in one integrated system—from overhead sensors to mobile apps, management software and analytics. With their system and sensor technology for smart on-street and open-air parking, they aim to reduce search traffic and CO2 emissions, and help solve some of the most urgent challenges facing cities today.
- INVENSITY works on developing practice-oriented innovations. In its technology hub—partly in cooperation with universities, institutions and associations—topics that aid technological advancement are worked on as part of innovation projects. INVENSITY systematizes the knowledge generated in projects. The newly gained expertise can then be made available to companies from various industries within the framework of client projects.
- ZF Friedrichshafen is a global leader in driveline and chassis technology, as well as active and passive safety technology. With its broad portfolio, ZF is advancing mobility and services for passenger cars, commercial vehicles and industrial technology applications.
The seminar is open to MSU students, faculty and staff. There will be opportunities for networking at a catered reception following. No registration is required.
The event is ideal for students majoring in the built environment and engineering disciplines. This event offers an opportunity for transatlantic knowledge exchange and to build networks by meeting leading global industry players who share an interest in infrastructure and mobility.
