Michigan State University welcomed Josh Miranda, PhD, to the Department of Horticulture as the new assistant professor of weed science in August 2025. Miranda comes to us from his graduate work at Oregon State University, where he worked on managing herbicide-resistant weeds in perennial crops, conducting herbicide performance trials to support registration, and testing electric weeders in orchards.

In his role at Michigan State University, Miranda will lead research in weed science in tree fruit and vegetable systems. The Michigan State University Extension fruit and vegetable teams are excited to collaborate with a new faculty specialist to identify and manage weed-related pressures in crop production.

Miranda can be reached by email at miran101@msu.edu.
