MSU Extension’s grape scouting reports for 2021
Michigan State University Extension will provide weekly reports of scouting efforts across the state, covering many parts of grape growing including vine phenology and horticultural updates, pest and disease management, and weather.
Michigan State University Extension will again be scouting vineyards for the 2021 growing season. We will share our findings in our weekly grape scouting reports. The reports will look very similar to the new design we introduced last year. This new design was the result of conversations with growers, stakeholders, and other interested readers.
MSU staff, educators, and specialists will be visiting multiple vineyards in northwest and southwest Michigan to check on growth stages, monitor insect traps, and collect leaf and cluster samples. We will then combine what we see from the various parts of the state and combine them into one report. These reports will cover weather, grape phenology, horticultural practices, as well as disease, insect, and weed management. They will also serve as a platform for us to announce upcoming meetings.
These reports will be posted on Wednesdays every week with the first report starting on May 19, 2021 and continue until grape harvest. All of the scouting reports will be archived on the MSU Extension Grape Scouting Reports page. You can also sign up to the weekly E-newsletter to receive the reports and other grape related information directly in your inbox. You can even select additional topics from MSU Extension that may be of interest to you.
