Spring has sprung in most parts of the country, which means it’s time to take the pulse of the beekeeping industry by recording managed honey bee colony losses and beekeeping practices across the United States. Results of colony loss and management surveys are important in many ways, from helping to raise awareness and resources for beekeeping to setting research directions within our great network of land-grant universities.

Auburn University, in partnership with the Apiary Inspectors of America, is administering the 2024-2025 U.S. Beekeeping Survey. This survey complements the survey previously conducted by the Bee Informed Partnership, and it continues long-term monitoring of key aspects of the U.S. beekeeping industry. Information about the survey’s research team, design and distribution can be read at The Auburn Series. Results from last year’s survey and loss numbers for previous years can be found at 2023-2024 Survey Results.

Please contribute to this community science monitoring effort by April 30, 2025. All U.S. beekeepers aged 18 and over, from hobbyists to those running commercial operations, are invited to participate. The survey will take approximately 30 minutes to complete.

Take the survey!
