Shared Programs

Formerly Dual Enrollment

Shared Programs – Undergraduate to Graduate (also referred to as Shared Programs-UG2G) provide an opportunity for academically talented undergraduate students to enroll in graduate courses and conduct research towards a graduate degree while completing the last two years of their bachelor’s degree(s) programs.

Undergraduate students in the School of Packaging should consult Aaron Tucker, Undergraduate Packaging Advisor, for guidance.

Program Policies

  • Students initiate interest in a Shared Program by completing the Request for Shared Enrollment Status form available on the Graduate School's Forms website.
  • The form can be completed once the student has achieved 56 credits.
  • Students must submit the form before beginning any shared course work.
  • Upon entering their final year of their bachelor’s program, students will then apply for admission to graduate study.
  • Students must complete their first bachelor's degree prior to beginning any graduate degree program.
  • Completion of the form does not guarantee future admission into a graduate program.
  • Full details can be found in the Academic Programs catalog.

Student Planning

There are two significant pieces when considering applying for the Shared Program:

  1. What course(s) do I want to count towards both my BS and MS degree programs (up to 9 credits) and when will I be taking those courses?
You must submit the Request for Shared Enrollment Status form BEFORE taking these courses during your BS program.
  2. When will I be completing 120 credits in order to graduate with my BS?
You will apply for the MS degree program for the semester immediately following your BS degree completion.  Application information and deadlines should be reviewed before proceeding.  Application deadlines are October 31 and February 15 each year for the following Fall semester.  Application information can also be found in the Graduate Student Handbook excerpt: Application and Admissions - pg 17.
