Chris Bardenhagen
Chris Bardenhagen is a Farm Business Management Educator with Michigan State University Extension, based in Leelanau County, Michigan. He works on cost of production assessments, both at the farm practice level and at the industry level. He also provides education on business structures, contracts and leases, and farm succession planning. In addition to these topics, he serves as a resource for farmers in Northern Michigan for business planning and for the Telfarm financial analysis program.
Chris previously worked with agricultural commodity groups on cost assessment, trade issues and intellectual property development through his PLC. He has partnered with MSU on numerous agricultural projects, including cooperative development. Chris holds both a bachelor’s and a PhD from MSU. Through his recent graduate studies in the MSU Department of Community Sustainability, he researched farmers’ adoption of conservation practices, and studied how agricultural “quality group” associations are organized.
