Jacob is a Ph.D. student in weed science, advised by Dr. Christy Sprague. His research focuses on integrated weed management and the role of effective weed control within dry edible bean systems in Michigan. Jacob’s work primarily evaluates herbicide programs, cultural management practices, and conservation-oriented approaches to improve weed management while supporting dry bean productivity and profitability.

He is passionate about conducting applied, Extension-focused research that bridges the gap between science and agricultural practice. Jacob’s interests extend beyond research to include agricultural policy and the ways that scientific evidence can guide decisions affecting producers, natural resources, and the future of agriculture.

Prior to pursuing his Ph.D. at Michigan State University, he received his M.S. in Agronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison under Dr. Rodrigo Werle and his B.S. in Crop Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
