Summary
I am an MSU graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Environmental/Plant Biology. I decided to continue my education by perusing a master’s degree in entomology, working under Dr. Deb McCullough. I am researching the effects of the invasive pest Asian chestnut gall wasp (ACGW) on Michigan’s chestnut orchards in southwest Michigan. Throughout my project I will be monitoring their phenology, how different chestnut cultivars respond to them and how the introduced parasitoid effects their population. With the information I acquire during this study I want to develop an integrated management plan to reduce yield loss caused by ACGW while minimizing costs to the growers and negative effects on the environment.
