Background:

Nick is pursuing his Ph.D. degree with the Center for Systems Integration and Sustainability in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife and is advised by Dr. Jianguo “Jack” Liu. Prior to Michigan State, he studied the geochemistry of local contaminated streams and used remote sensing to study harmful algal blooms in Lake Erie while earning his B.S. in Geology and his B.A in Environmental Studies from Kent State University.

After graduating in 2019, he joined Kent State’s Assal Biogeography & Landscape Dynamics lab as a post-bachelor research assistant. Currently, his research interests include environmental data science, geospatial analysis, and land systems science. His project focuses on using the telecoupling framework to analyze land change and environmental impacts associated with international trade, and how the cascading effects of disasters may impact these associations.
