Module 08: Impact Evaluation - Introduction and Methods Overview

Summary

This training module provides an overview of concepts, challenges and methods of impact evaluation and some practical considerations in doing impact evaluation. The methods covered include both experimental methods such as randomized control trials (RCTs) and non-experimental approaches such as propensity score matching, regression discontinuity designs, difference in differences and instrumental variables.  

Objectives

  1. Provide a review of what is impact evaluation and why it is important
  2. Discuss key concepts and challenges of impact evaluation
  3. Provide an overview of experimental and non-experimental methods of impact evaluation
  4. Highlight a few practical considerations in designing and implementing impact evaluation
