Recertification Requirements
- Pesticide certification and registration credentials for private and commercial applicators expire every three years on December 31 of the third year.
- Applicators who want to renew their license are required to either retake the exam or recertify through earning recertification seminar credits.
- Number of required credits by applicator to recertify:
- Commercial and Registered applicators need to earn 8 credits for the Core and 8 credits for each category listed on their credentials.
- Private applicators need to earn a minimum of 16 credits for the private core.
- Applicators with fumigation or aerial standards need two credits for each standard.

- All recertification credits must be earned before the applicator certification credentials expire.
- Seminar credits do not carry over from one certification period to the next.
- New categories can be added only by completing the examination.
- Credits earned at a seminar cannot be split across categories.
- Applicators certified as both private and commercial or registered applicators may apply core credits from one seminar to both credentials.
- Applicators are responsible for documenting the seminars they attend. Use the Seminar Attendance Record to track attendance.
