Understanding the Importance of Antibodies and Colostrum: A Lesson for 4-H Youth

Take a deep dive into learning how colostrum impacts antibodies in young calves with this interactive hands-on activity. Through this activity, participants will learn why colostrum and antibodies are important for newborn calves and their success. This PowerPoint will take participants through everything colostrum, from what it is made of and how it passes through a calf's body to be used for supplying antibodies!

This lesson is great for 4-H dairy SPIN clubs or for quiz bowl review. It should also be used in conjunction with the "Dairy Calf Gut Closure and Colostrum Antibody Absorption" resource.
