MSU Extension Tollgate Farm and Education Center

The Americana Foundation was established by Adolph H. Meyer and Ginger Meyer to support, through philanthropy, their varied personal interests.  Their success in industry and their interest in agriculture and the protection of open space, combined with their knowledge of and appreciation for authentic American art, have been the guiding focus for the programs of the foundation.

The purpose of the Americana Foundation is to support educational and advocacy programs that address the preservation of American agriculture, the conservation of natural resources, and the protection and presentation of expressions of America’s heritage.

MSU Tollgate Farm and Education Center is the home of the Americana Foundation.  As part of a rapidly changing community, the Board Members of the Foundation have witnessed the loss, through fragmentation of the land base, of what were once viable agricultural lands.  Because Mr. Meyer believed that farming and the production of food “always will be a required function if any of us are to survive,” the protection of agriculture and natural resources throughout Michigan remains an important area of focus for the foundation.
