The Heritage Garden
A beautifully designed garden made possible by a generous donation from The Americana Foundation is the focal view from MSU Tollgate’s Conference Center. This garden is a truly restful place to sit and enjoy the varied colors and textures of these plantings as well as a view of the adjacent Rose Garden. A trellis, draped with a climbing rose, enhances the stone entryway of the garden. Most of the perennials and shrubs in this cottage garden planting were in cultivation prior to the turn of the century. The variety of plants demonstrates that gardening has long been a popular pastime. Featured plants are roses, tall serviceberry, hydrangeas, fern leaf bleeding hearts, a mix of ferns, hardy geranium and more.
