Event
Usage
Use Event when you’re adding an event with a specific time, date and place. This entry contains information users need to attend, participate or share the event, similar to a calendar entry. Events are time sensitive and will disappear once they are over. Events should be limited to those that are presented by, hosted by or organized by people in CANR.
Fields
Title
Title of Event (text field, title case for event)
Summary
Required. A short synopsis of the event, used in event listings.
Image
Optional, insert image that is the highest quality and permissions
Image Description
Required when there is an image, describe the image for those using a screen reader (serves as alternate text)
Image Caption
Not required, should be different from the image description, related and relevant to the event.
Start Date
Required. The date the event begins (when over several days) or is happening.
Time
Start time of the event. Highly recommended to include end time as well, if a variety of times exist for several days, include all of those.
End Date
Not required. The date the multi-day event ends. If it’s a one-day event, don’t use end date.
Repeats
Not required. Use this only if the event repeats on a consistent, regular basis and if the time, description, location, contact are all the same for each event.
Location
Use if there is no relationship to a place in the system. This is intended for the event location. This will display in addition to place information, be sure not to repeat the information that’s already listed in place.
Contact Information
Only use if there is no person listed in the point of contact information. This is intended for use when the contact person is not in our person fields. This will display in addition to person information, be sure not to repeat the information that’s already listed in person.
Description
A longer description of the event than listed in the summary.

This is where the link to register goes.
Relationships
Dataset-calendarEvent
This is any topic or other grouping of information with which the event is affiliated. It is possible for an event to to be affiliated with more than one dataset.
Location-Event
This is the event location. This is the geographic place or places where the event takes place. It is possible for an event to take place in more than one place. For places that not in the system, use the location field to provide additional information.
Organization-Event
This is the organization where the event should be promoted.
Target-Place
Relevant places where the event should be promoted.
Point-OfContact
This is the point of contact for the event. For people that are not in the system, use the location field to provide additional information.
