Boy showing dogThe Dog Committee provides educational opportunities for all youth and volunteers involved in the dog project throughout the county and holds the Pre-Fair Dog Show in May.

The annual committee meeting is held in October or November and a spring informational meeting is held in February or March. The next meeting is March 19, 2025 at 6:30 PM in the Eaton County Extension Office PMR (public meeting room located in the basement).

The Eaton County 4-H Pre-Fair Dog Show occurs in May on the Eaton County fairgrounds.

Participants may be 4-H members, non-4-H members or adults. 4-H rules and regulations are followed for the show. Current vaccination records for dogs in the show will need to be submitted with registration. No puppies under 5 months of age will be allowed to show.

Resources

The Dog Committee has purchased 10 copies of the Ohio State University Dog Resource Handbook that are available for dog leaders to check out from the Extension office for use with their clubs and members. Books may be checked out for the program year and returned or renewed at the end of each year.

All youth who participate in the dog project must turn in their dog project registration form to Bonnie Seitler by May 1.
