With generous support from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, CRFS administered the MI Farm to School Grant Program from 2011-2018.
Over 20 eligible Michigan K-12 schools/districts and early care and education programs each year were provided mini-grants (up to $2,000 each) to plan for or implement farm to school programs focused on local food purchasing.
Grantees were able to participate for up to three years in an effort to ensure the sustainability of farm to school programs into the future. To date, the grant program has supported over 70 distinct programs with over $200,000 in grant awards to increase the amount of local foods purchased and served in food service programs, thereby increasing kids’ access to healthy, fresh, local foods.
