CACCI-Asia lead Suresh Babu’s Recent Visit To South Asia For CACCI-Asia Outreach And Networking
Suresh Babu recently visited Nepal and India as part of the USAID funded Comprehensive Action for Climate Change Initiative – Asia (CACCI-Asia). The purpose of the visit was to discuss climate change adaptation and mitigation issues at the country and regional level and explore joint research opportunities with policy think tanks and government stakeholders, under CACCI-Asia.
He visited the Institute for Integrated Development Studies, Nepal (IIDS) our USAID funded Innovation Lab for Food Security Policy, Research, Capacity, and Influence (PRCI) South Asia country partner, where he presented 'Climate change adaptation and mitigation issues at the national and regional level: CACCI Approach in Asia' to colleagues. The discussions focused on exploring joint policy research opportunities to guide the process of federalism and climate change issues at the provincial and regional levels in Nepal.
He also presented the CACCI approach to officials at the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Nepal. At this meeting, he discussed with the officials on involving the Ministry as a key country focal point for future work under CACCI-Asia in Nepal.
In India, Suresh Babu, met with our PRCI South Asia lead center, Research and Information System for Developing Countries (RIS), to present on climate change adaptation and mitigation issues in Asia and how the CACCI-Asia approach can help address some of these challenges in India. A case study on the work being underway in Tajikistan as part of CACCI-Asia was also highlighted. There was also a discussion on the recently published report by RIS on 'Developments in Agricultural Trade in the BIMSTEC region' which was developed in collaboration with PRCI and IFPRI.
