MSU Urban & Regional Planning’s Peilei Fan receives Cross-disciplinary Faculty Research Award from the College of Social Science

Peilei Fan, associate professor of urban & regional planning, was selected to receive the Cross-disciplinary Faculty Research Award from the MSU College of Social Science. She was recognized for the award on Wednesday, April 24 in the MSU Union Ballroom.
“I am extremely honored to receive this award. To be recognized by my colleagues of my research effort is something very special to me,” Fan said.
“I also want to thank the Urban & Regional Planning program and the School of Planning, Design and Construction for providing me with such an encouraging environment for inter-disciplinary research.”
This is one of the highest awards presented by the college, and recognizes significant research achievements on issues of societal relevance not easily identified with a single discipline, or that require collaboration across multiple disciplines.
Fan was nominated by Mark Wilson, professor and program director of Urban & Regional Planning.
“Peilei Fan’s research is widely respected and adopts a multidisciplinary perspective. She has several research themes,” Wilson said.
“The first focus is on human-environment interaction associated with urbanization. In particular the social and environmental factors associated with climate change and the impact on the built environment in transitional economics in Asia,” he elaborated.
“The second theme addresses the interplay of technology and development with emphasis on the contribution of innovation to economic development, globalization of research and development (R&D), and innovative city regions.”
