Background:

Ceridwyn grew up in Michigan, where an early interest in aquatic ecosystems eventually led her to pursue an interdisciplinary path spanning biochemistry, ecology, and marine science. She holds B.S. degrees in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and Environmental Biology/Zoology from Michigan State University, along with a minor in Marine Ecosystem Management. She later completed her M.S. in Coastal and Marine Science & Management at Arizona State University, where her thesis evaluated light absorption by coral reef communities using underwater imagery and ecological data. During her master’s, Ceridwyn also worked as a research technician with the NASA PACE Sargasso Sea Team at the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences, where she helped lead field operations and data analysis supporting satellite validation efforts in the Sargasso Sea. At MSU, Ceridwyn is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife, where her research focuses on sea lamprey movement and migration in Great Lakes tributaries. She is particularly interested in combining field ecology, telemetry, hydrology, and spatial analysis to better understand and predict animal movement in aquatic systems. In her spare time, Ceridwyn enjoys diving, being outdoors with her cat, and finding excuses to be on or near the water.
