Crista Derry
Currently a Research Assistant at the Lake City Research Center, Crista brings a wealth of experience from a lifelong dedication to animal science and agricultural research. Her journey began on a multi-species farm in northern Michigan, where she first developed a passion for animal husbandry. This passion led her to Michigan State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, followed by a Master of Science in Animal Physiology from West Virginia University.
After completing her graduate studies, Crista managed the WVU sheep flock, where she honed her skills in livestock management and research. Returning to raise the 5th generation on her family farm in northern Michigan, she joined the Lake City Research Center, where she now applies her expertise to advancing agricultural research and innovation.
