Research
Our laboratory’s research agenda centers on the elucidation of the molecular mechanism of skeletal muscle and adipose tissue development in livestock species. I focus on three specific areas: (1) study of postnatal skeletal muscle hypertrophy and characteristics via altering cellular environment; (2) study of exogenous growth promotants and nutrients to enhance skeletal muscle and adipose tissue growth; and (3) study of adipose tissue biology to maximize intramuscular adipose tissue development. It is our goal to contribute to the knowledge base of meat production and quality in the field of animal science by exploring nutritional or pharmaceutical factors and comprehension of the signaling pathways connecting external and intrinsic factors affecting animal tissue growth.
