Farm Policy & Risk Management Series - Field Crops Session

Post-Session Evaluation & SurveyThe Field Crops session explored crop insurance programs for corn, soybeans, and wheat growers. Two distinct programs options were discussed: Yield Protection and Revenue Protection. Participants reviewed the basics of crop insurance and how its use can benefit their farm. This includes understanding the differences between yield and revenue policies, the ways each provides protection, and the advantages offered by each.
Additionally, this session featured industry insurance specialists Devin Roth from Greenstone Farm Credit Services and Jessica Braeutigam with Growers Crop Insurance Agency who have experience in risk protection programs related to field crops here in Michigan.
Devin Roth is a Senior Crop insurance Specialist for GreenStone Farm Credit Services out of St. Johns Michigan. With almost a decade of crop insurance experience focusing on row crop and dairy farm operations, Devin works with conventional and organic farms of all various sizes. Devin grew up on a dairy and row crop farm in Bad Axe Michigan. Before entering crop insurance Devin worked in farm property and casualty insurance in Lansing.
Jessica Braeutigam is the owner and principal agent of Growers Crop Insurance Agency LLC out of Charlotte, Michigan. An MSU alumni, Jessica worked in ag retail, gaining a well-rounded understanding of production agriculture before transitioning into the crop insurance world. As an independent agent for the past 10 years, Jessica has worked with growers to help them choose the right crop insurance policies for their farm and risk tolerance. Jessica is passionate about helping her growers protect their farm and their livelihoods with the crop insurance tools available.
