Meet More Community ChampionsAs a college student, Aditi Kulkarni became co-founder of the Spartan Food Security Council, a student organization on Michigan State University's campus dedicated to ending food insecurity in East Lansing.
She and her friend had an idea to feed fellow peers. They helped introduce legislation into the state and they worked with Michigan State University administrators, students and faculty to create a new culture around what food insecurity is and how it could be solved equitably at MSU and on other on college campuses.
Since 2021, these efforts have contributed to $1 million in state funding for hunger-free campus programs.
