Learn through experiences outside the class at MSU

Learn outside the classroom, too! MSU forestry students participate in field trips, internships, research and education abroad opportunities.

There are also different student organizations connected with natural resources and forestry, like the
MSU Forestry Club, a Society of American Foresters student chapter that sponsors activities including maple syrup production, forestry skills competitions, camping trips and professional seminars. (Visit the MSU Forestry Club's Facebook page.)

    MSU Forestry offers 4 minors for both forestry and non-forestry majors. We offer Forestry, Urban and Community Forestry, Forestry Field Applications and we have a new minor in Sustainable Bioproducts Science and Technology.

    Check out the new FOR 491 class on Natural Resources and Field Skills! It is lead by Randy Klevickas and Justin Kunkle and teaches students how to operate heavy equipment, use chainsaws and practice first aid skills for only 1 credit.
