Certification

Each participant who satisfies all below requirements will be certified as a “Michigan Naturalist” and receive a certificate and cloth badge to be sewn on clothing in a visible and respectful place. A digital certificate of completion will be awarded when the final class evaluation survey is completed. 

Requirements

  • Full attendance in monthly, in-person sessions
    • All classes will be held, rain or shine.
  • Completion of each D2L unit's short assignment and 80% or above on all open book knowledge checks
    • Each successful assignment and knowledge check completion provides a digital badge.
  • A final score of 80% awards a sew on patch and Michigan Naturalist Certification.

Certification Renewal

Certification must be re-validated every two years with confirmation of a minimum of 8 hours of related continuing education and small processing fee. Renewal certificates and a renewal bar patch will be sent that can be added to your original sew on badge.
