BAE brought expertise to ASABE Annual International Meeting

The Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering had a strong presence at the 2026 American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers Annual International Meeting in Indianapolis this month.
With over 70 MSU Spartans attending, giving over 60 technical presentations, participating in technical and leadership committees/councils/boards, and competing in research, design, and robotics competitions, Spartans brought their expertise to the event.
Below are the awards and recognition Spartans received at this year’s event.
Alpha Epsilon Chapter in the Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at Michigan State University received the New Project SeeD Money Award from the National Alpha Epsilon organization, further boosting the rebirth and reinvigoration of the local chapter and its impact on students and programs within the department. Congratulations to the chapter officers and entire chapter!
Macy Schafer won 3rd place in the Boyd-Scott M.S. research competition
The MSU BAE Ag Robotics team placed fifth out of fifteen at this years competition.
MSU Biosystems Engineering senior design bioretention project team presented their project as finalists in the ASABE Gunlogson Environmental Design competition, and they won 3rd place.
MSU Biosystems Engineering doctoral candidate Boyang Deng was awarded the 2026 Graduate Scholarly Achievement Award from the Association of Overseas Chinese Agricultural, Biological, and Food Engineers
Ehsane Ghane, Ph.D. (middle), received the Outstanding Reviewer Award
