CANR highlights department unit initiatives around DEI

The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will honor the 2024 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Badge Award recipients at the CANR Faculty and Staff Reception on May 2.

The College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion will honor the 2024 Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Badge Award recipients at the CANR Faculty and Staff Reception on May 2.

Each year, DEI efforts in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources and MSU Extension are gathered and shared with the CANR Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and CANR DEI Committee members. These efforts are then scored and grouped into categories, with platinum being the highest level of achievement. Learn more about the DEI Badge Project and process.

The goal of the DEI Badge Project is to highlight the amazing work each department, school and unit is doing to contribute to lasting diversity, equity and inclusion. The criteria taken into consideration aligns with the five core areas established by the DEI Strategic Plan put forth by the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee. The core areas are as follows:

  • Culture and climate
  • Leadership
  • Recruiting, hiring and retention
  • Employee training and professional development
  • Teaching, outreach, research and service
