MSU Dairy Store and MSU Product Center celebrate National Small Business Week by featuring new Michigan-made food products
National Small Business Week is May 3-9, 2026.
In recognition of National Small Business Week, the Michigan State University Dairy Store has partnered with MSU Extension and the MSU Product Center to introduce a selection of new packaged food products made by emerging Michigan-based brands. The collaboration highlights the MSU Dairy Store’s ongoing commitment to supporting small businesses, food entrepreneurs and local agricultural producers across the state.
All newly featured products are made in Michigan and represent new and growing food businesses that have worked closely with the MSU Product Center to develop, launch and scale their products. These items are now available for purchase at the MSU Dairy Store, offering customers an opportunity to support local entrepreneurs while enjoying high-quality Michigan-made foods.
“The MSU Dairy Store has proudly partnered with the MSU Product Center for several years to thoughtfully curate the packaged foods we offer in our store,” said Aaron Weiner, manager of the MSU Dairy Store. “This year, we are excited to onboard four new brands and highlight their products during National Small Business Week. Supporting Michigan farmers, food makers and small businesses is central to our mission, and we are proud to provide a retail platform that helps these entrepreneurs reach new customers.”
The four new brands that are now available in the MSU Dairy Store are:
- Wright’s Bites Pretzel Snacks based in Grand Rapids
- Nani Girl Snacks Cassava Puffs from Grand Rapids
- Dark Water Coffee Roasters coffee and teas from Hart
- Belle Lavende Lavender products based in Stockbridge
National Small Business Week was first established in 1963 during President John F. Kennedy’s administration to recognize the vital contributions of small businesses to the U.S. economy. Since its inception, the observance has grown into a nationally recognized celebration, with organizations across the country hosting events, educational workshops and award ceremonies that honor entrepreneurs and business innovators. The week serves as an annual reminder of the entrepreneurial spirit that has fueled economic growth since the nation’s founding and continues to strengthen communities today.
National Small Business Week 2026 will take place May 3–9. Throughout West Michigan, a variety of in-person and virtual events will be offered to support, educate and celebrate small business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs. Additional information about these events is available online.
The MSU Product Center, through MSU Extension, brings together the University’s extensive expertise in food, agriculture and natural resources to help entrepreneurs define, develop and successfully launch innovative products. Through business counseling, technical assistance, education and market access opportunities, the MSU Product Center plays a critical role in strengthening Michigan’s food and agriculture economy.
