Success at the 2022 Innovation Forum: Bridging Technologies and Market Needs!
Over the course of 30 hours, 13 main sessions and 59 sub sessions took place. The event welcomed over 1,000 attendees!
The Innovation Forum: Bridging Technologies and Market Needs took place on February 25-26, 2022 and opening remarks were given by Michigan State University President Dr. Samuel Stanley. The event was hosted by the Global Alliance for Rapid Diagnostics (GARD), which was founded by Dr. Evangelyn C. Alocilja after seeing the need for affordable and accessible diagnostic technologies in resource-limited populations. The forum took place continuously for 30 hours, allowing for partners from around the globe to come together and collaborate at their convenience.
There were 13 main sessions with 59 sub sessions. There were over 1,000 registered for the event.
The event focused on topics like antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial stewardship, prevention of future pandemics, nano/micro/bulk plastic, the circular economy and food safety and security, and other cross-cutting issues. Having collaboration at this level across the globe allows scientists to share techniques, discuss collaborative solutions, and help monitor potential disease outbreaks.
The attendees also participated in the Innovation Challenge, where participants are assigned a group and given a global problem to brainstorm and propose a solution. They then had 3 minutes to be given an elevator pitch to present their solution.
The top team was focused on water quality and the prize was $300 ( sponsored by De La Salle University and the MSU Asian Studies Center)
Join the Global Alliance for Rapid Diagnostics in March 2023 for next year's Innovation Forum. Information will be posted on the GARD Website
