Ogemaw 4-H Advisory Groups

Ogemaw 4-H Council

The advisory body for the 4-H Program in Ogemaw County shall be known as the “Ogemaw 4-H Council”. The purpose of this advisory body shall be:

  • To support the 4-H Program in helping youth develop positive self-esteem, effective communication and decision-making skills and become responsible adults who will work toward a peaceful global future.
  • To provide an organization to aid the Extension Staff in determining the needs of the 4-H Program of the County.
  • To act as a representative body in 4-H Program relationships with other organizations and individuals.
  • To provide a local organization to act as custodian of properties of the 4- H Program of Ogemaw County
  • To provide monetary sponsorship of 4-H Programs and events.

Through its membership, the Ogemaw 4-H Council raises money to help members attend 4-H programs (fill out a scholarship request form - click here), offers trainings, purchases supplies for events and programs, and much more.

Ogemaw County 4-H Small & Large Animal Livestock Advisory Committee ("Livestock Committee")

 The purpose of this advisory body will be:

  • To advise and assist the MSU Extension 4-H Staff in planning, conducting, and promoting educational programs for youth in livestock projects.
  • To conduct the business required to prepare 4-H members involved in 4-H livestock programs for participation in the Ogemaw County Fair.
  • Enforce rules and regulations and teach responsibility and sportsmanship for the 4-H livestock programs as stated in the Ogemaw County 4-H Livestock Market Rules.
  • The Ogemaw County 4-H Small & Large Animal Livestock Advisory Committee is a standing committee of the Ogemaw 4-H Council.
  • It will be the goal of this organization to ensure the following:
    • Youth develop positive relationships with adults and peers.
    • Youth are physically and emotionally safe.
    • Youth are actively engaged in their own development.
    • Youth are considered participants rather than recipients in the learning process.
    • Youth develop skills that help them succeed.
    • Youth recognize, understand and appreciate multiculturalism.
    • Youth grow and contribute as active citizens through service and leadership.

The Ogemaw 4-H Livestock Committee encourages 4-H members and volunteer to engage in educational opportunities to expand their learning and gain experience. The committee does not want cost to be a barrier to learning.
