Sayde Ridling is a master’s student researching ambrosia beetle taxonomy and systematics under Dr. Anthony Cognato. She serves as vice president of the Alaska Entomology Society and is a member of MSU’s Ecology, Evolution, and Behavior (EEB) Program. Beyond her research, she is passionate about outreach, diversity and inclusion—of both students and arthropods—and about the important role entomology collections, such as MSU’s A. J. Cook Arthropod Research Collection, play in research and education. Though she grew up in Alaska, she feels equally at home in places that are hot, humid and teeming with insects. Wherever there are beetles to discover, chances are Sayde is happy to be there.
