Why did you choose MSU FSHN for your major?
I was interested in connecting my passions of agriculture and food production with human health. The Nutritional Sciences program gives me the ability to learn this range of information and prepare me for a future career.
What has been the most interesting thing you have learned during your major?
The most interesting information I have learned while studying Nutritional Science is the wide range of challenges we face: not only with global hunger issues, but also supply chain, governmental issues, immigration and climate change. Understanding these challenges to produce food and supply adequate, quality foods is very important. My experience has shown me the number of opportunities there are to make a difference in the world.
What has receiving the Future Leaders Mentoring Scholarship meant to you?
Receiving the Future Leaders Mentoring Scholarship has shown me that my efforts to be a dedicated student are being recognized. The scholarship allows me to focus more on academic achievement and less on working full-time in order to pay for my education.
What are your future plans?
I plan to further my education by applying to the graduate program at MSU. I will also be applying to jobs in the agricultural, human health and environmental industries.
If there was only one thing you could share with someone considering MSU FSHN for their undergraduate experience, what would you tell them?
This program is a great way to learn more about connecting agricultural production and human health. There are many opportunities for Nutritional Science students to grow in their professional lives like joining clubs, participating in undergraduate research, internships, and study abroad trips.
