Safa Alzohairy
Bio
Dr. Safa Alzohairy earned a Ph.D. in plant breeding, genetics and biotechnology at Michigan State University, with a focus on molecular plant pathology. Her doctoral research examined cucurbit diseases caused by oomycetes and Phytophthora capsici. She later completed postdoctoral research in small fruit pathology, expanding her expertise in disease management of fruit crops.

Research
Outreach
As PSEP coordinator, Alzohairy develops educational tools and training programs that support pesticide applicators across Michigan. Her work includes organizing pesticide safety programming, creating online courses and providing year-round, affordable recertification opportunities. She also helps applicators stay informed, compliant and effective in managing pests while protecting human health and the environment.
